At the time I started my Art-director's work on the show, Thomas became, first time ever, a full CG project with new technical challenges and lots of great creative opportunities as well.
The main challenge was to recreate (in CG) the original look and feel of Thomas' world previously done as stop motion sets and scale models. Brand new locations and characters had also been designed. I can proudly say that the job the studio's crew and Art-department, I was the leader of, delivered had completely over exceeded all client's expectations.

- As of yet, the actual art-work and designs are not available due to the client's copyright conditions. So I'm showing you some screen shots from the first DVD and TV-season I worked on.
- "Steamworks" was a brand new location designed for the Island Of Sodor. The layout of this location, exterior and interior design of the building were done by designers of our Art-department and based on my personal concept art-work.

This project came from LA and meant to become a prime-time TV-show.
In terms of style, the producer wanted something more edgy, Flash kinda thing...
The original authors – two writers – loved the style below the most...
Unfortunately, the LA guys had changed their mind, the project had been canceled at the very beginning of the development.
